Tameside managed to scrape the lead in the first quarter 15 - 14. Second quarter Lucy Stevenson came to GS and Chloe Shepherd to GA. It was Tameside who scored the first 2 goals of the quarter, but then Oldham answered with 2 goals. Again there was nothing between the 2 sides and the players were playing under a lot of pressure to take care of every pass and make every goal count. Oldham scored 5 goals in a row during this quarter, but it wasn't enough to take them in the lead, they brought the score to a draw 25-25. Third quarter Oldham went back to the starting 7 and was first on the score board. Oldham applied a lot of pressure on the strong Tameside and continued to turn the ball over and on most occasions, scored off these, which allowed the red and blue side to creep into the lead taking the score to 40-37 to Oldham. Final push for both teams was the fourth quarter and it was important Oldham were composed. Oldham did just that and made some clear decisions and scored from most centres and turnovers. This allowed Oldham to move further into the lead with the final score 53-45. "It was a great performance from both teams, Oldham managed to stay composed and stick to the game plan, which saw us go into the lead and maintain it till the end". Oldhams U14s earned their place at the National Finals to be held in Birmingham on 27/28th May with a stunning 40-19 win in the regional semi final V local rivals Tameside.
Oldham stormed into the first quarter stacking up a 10-3 lead . Quarter 2 showed a little complacency from Oldham with some wasted balls thrown into the circle but still the lead was 17-9 Half time. Some harsh realities fed to the team at half time from coach put Oldham back into the swing and quarter 3 saw Oldham surge ahead with both shooters Alex Martin GS and Captain Berri Neil GA shooting 100% and defenders Millie Marsden, Kasmin Narnorand Frankie Southern forcing Tameside into numerous errors. Oldham advanced the lead to 29_14 at 3/4 time. Quarter 4 Oldham showed their class and centre court players Kate Leddy and Ellie Williams swept through Tameside defence with ease putting the ball into shooters with Flair . Another 100% shot count in quarter 4 left Oldham with a spectacular win over Tameside 40-19 Player of the match with 100% shooting stats in her third game in a row was captain Berri Neal GA. Coaches comments Lots of fantastic play from the whole squad. Disappointing 2nd quarter We have much work to do to bring that nationals cup back to Oldham . Oldham Will now play Chester in the North West regional Final to be held at Belle Vue Stadium on Sunday 23rd April.
