Oldham signed off 2015 with another win!

Oldham Netball Club's national league side signed off 2015 with a resounding 56-25 win away at Cheltenham based Hucclecote.

The away side started quickly, pushing into a 3-1 lead before Hucclecote came back with some strong play and uncharacteristic errors from Oldham. The comeback was short-lived though as Oldham then scored 6 unanswered goals, Emma Dovey and Kerry Almond were piling the pressure on the Hucclecote shooters and creating turnovers which Gabby Marshall and Iona Darroch were picking up for the Oldham attack to finish off. Oldham out their foot down and raced into a 16-8 lead at the break.

Fifth Straight win for Oldham

Oldham Netball Club kept up the chase for a fifth straight National Premier League One title with a convincing 71-58 win away at New Cambell.

Oldham started strongly surging into a 7-2 lead within minutes but they couldn't keep up the pressure and the home side brought the score back to 8-6 with some precision passing and fast breaks. Oldham's defence of Taylor Cullen, Emma Dovey and Kerry Almond were working hard to pressure the home side into errors and create turnovers which were despatched by the Oldham shooters with ease. Oldham led 16-9 at the break.

Coach Debbie Hallas opted to rotate the squad with Abby Tyrrell moving to GD, Dovey shifted across to the wing to replace Cullen. The changes worked immediately with the defensive unit training over the ball with ease on occasion to extend the lead. Kathryn Turner was working well with some great drives into the circle and clinical shooting, helping to keep the pressure on. Krista Enziano was looking more and more at home at GS and was sinking some long shots under pressure. Oldham stretched the lead to 10 with youngster Iona Darroch working well in the middle and linking with Maria McAndrew, but the home team began to surge back and force Oldham into some uncharacteristic errors. The score at the half time break was 35-30 to Oldham.

More changes for the third, with McAndrew moving to the centre and Amy Neild replacing Darroch. Again, the changes had an instant impact and Oldham began to move away with some slick passages of play, particularly between McAndrew and Turner. Some strong play from the away side allowed them to take a lead of nine goals into the final quarter.

Cullen returned for the final quarter and Dovey moved back to GD to link with Almond again and shore up the defensive circle. This proved to be an astute decision from Hallas with the defence working hard to restrict the balls into the home side's shooter and create opportunities to increase the lead for he attack. Oldham's through court play and accurate shooting provided to be too much for Cambell and in the end ran out comfortable winners.

Hallas said: "We played some great fast flowing netball today and our consistency is getting better. I was really pleased with the impact all the subsitutes had when getting on court. My player of the match today has to go to Kathryn Turner who further impressed with shooting stats of 100% (29/29), you can't ask for more than that."
