It was goal for goal in the early stages of the first quarter, with no team being able to pull away from the other. Tameside managed to scrape the lead in the first quarter 15 - 14.
Second quarter Lucy Stevenson came to GS and Chloe Shepherd to GA. It was Tameside who scored the first 2 goals of the quarter, but then Oldham answered with 2 goals. Again there was nothing between the 2 sides and the players were playing under a lot of pressure to take care of every pass and make every goal count. Oldham scored 5 goals in a row during this quarter, but it wasn't enough to take them in the lead, they brought the score to a draw 25-25.
Third quarter Oldham went back to the starting 7 and was first on the score board. Oldham applied a lot of pressure on the strong Tameside and continued to turn the ball over and on most occasions, scored off these, which allowed the red and blue side to creep into the lead taking the score to 40-37 to Oldham.
Final push for both teams was the fourth quarter and it was important Oldham were composed. Oldham did just that and made some clear decisions and scored from most centres and turnovers. This allowed Oldham to move further into the lead with the final score 53-45.
"It was a great performance from both teams, Oldham managed to stay composed and stick to the game plan, which saw us go into the lead and maintain it till the end".
