U14 Oldham vs Westmoreland 2017

Oldham kept the same team on the court for the final quarter and the superb defensive unit of Mallinder, Muamba and Diamond kept Westmorland to just 10 goals in the whole game.  The attacking unit of McKee, McDermott, Krishna and Rattigan shown their speed and agility to bruise the Westmorland defence by scoring 41 goals

​Oldham made the four hour return journey up to Kirby Stephen in the wind and sleet to play their final game in the regional rounds.
 
Q1 -Oldham U14’s totally dominated the quarter from the first whistle.  The ball was turned over and fed back up the court and converted to goals again and again.  A massive 22/22 goals scored for the Oldham squad and Westmoreland were unable to put a goal in the net. Quarter 1 score 22-0.
 
Q2 – Just one change for Oldham this quarter saw Stacey GD, Oldham continued to dominate the game giving Westmoreland nothing. 6 turnovers from  Kate Leddy in this quarter secured her player of the match.  Oldham converted more balls up the court and into Oldham’s shooting circle with another 100% shooting from both Alex and Berri.

​Q3 – This quarter saw Hannah Diamond made her debut for the regional squad.  Hannah missed her first goal but soon settled to pop in 8 out of her 9 goals successfully. Centre court changed too bringing on Zahra, Georgia and Niamh to the court.  Stacey went into GK and Kasmine back into GD.   Oldham continued to dominate the game despite some sloppy balls. Westmoreland were still not enough to overcome the strong Oldham side as Kasmine and Stacey got some crucial interceptions for Oldham stopping them entering a score onto the boards. End of quarter 3-  Oldham 53 Westmoreland 0.

Q4 – The last quarter saw Alex, Millie and Kate return to court.   Another fast powerful quarter as Oldham were a force to be reckoned with.  Alex continued to pop goal after goal into the net, continuing her 100% shooting stats.  Some fantastic turnovers from Millie, Kate, Georgia and Niamh saw the domination continue.  Oldham kept their focus and drive and maintained their awesome shooting performance to end the game on a final score of 63-0.

Oldham U14’s have remained unbeaten throughout the rounds scoring a massive 399 goals and only 61 goals scored against them.  They have secured their place in the regional playoffs in March.  They will meet local rivals Tameside in the semi final.
