Oldham came with a depleted, but strong and determined squad regardless. Oldham had strength all through the court. Oldham scored the first 3 goals of the game and with Capricorn struggling to feed the circle over Abigail Tyrell’s arms, Oldham started strong. The 7 red and blue players stood strong and played the Oldham way and it definitely paid off. |
The team stayed the same this quarter after their excellent performance in the first quarter. Ebbie Danson-Chappell kept her composure throughout the quarter, controlled the attack and consistently delivered excellent feeds into the not missing super shooters Isobel Hallam and Chloe Shepherd. Oldham continued to apply pressure on Capricorns attack and did not make it easy for them with Vanessa Luamba and Zoe Mallinder bossing the circle with some great team work and connection. Oldham remain in the lead at half time.
Third quarter introduced Joely Ferris to WD and Rachel Fitzsimmons GK. Tyrell went to GD, Shepherd and Hallam switched round in the shooting circle. Lucy Shepherd stayed at WA and was playing superb in Oldham’s attacking third, which continued in this quarter also. Oldham let a few errors creep in with some complacent feeds going down court and not finding space, but they soon rectified it and maintained their lead.
Final quarter, Luamba came back on at GD, Hallam and Shepherd switch round again. Ferris and Fitzsimmons continued to make it difficult for the opposition and didn’t let any changes affect Oldham’s performance. The shooting duo continued to finish of some great passages of play and overall the game was dominated by the red and blue side, with the game finishing with a convincing win by Oldham 57-38.
