Oldham U10's Owlets
Owlet’s first match was against Trafford U10's and the girls proved to be far too strong for the only team in their group of the same age. In the first quarter Owlets got off to a slow start and led by only 3-1 at the end, but the 2nd 3rd and 4th quarters the young Owlets showed their superiority and scored a further 18 goals without reply.
The second match against Bury U11's proved to be a more difficult game and the first quarter went goal for goal, against a much bigger and older team, and finished 3-3. But, after the break the speed of passes and neat footwork put the Owlets into a commanding lead by the end of the 4th. The shooting accuracy of the Owlets proved to be the difference.
Owlet’s final match was against Trafford U11's and the girls knew that another win in their final match would give them the tournament win. With this knowledge they got off to a flyer turning over the Trafford centre and scoring first. This set the tone for the remainder of the quarter, racing into a 6-0 lead. The 2nd and 3rd quarters went goal for goal and then in the final quarter Owlets finished the game with a 13-4 win and the tournament win.
All the girls played their part in a very good squad performance with all girls contributing in all areas of the court showing excellent ball skills and understanding of each other's play.
