Oldham Netball Club

Oldham 51 Leeds Athletic 35

17/12/2013

Oldham Netball Club's Premier League side had a tough journey away from home to face arch rivals Leeds Athletic. This was the first game in the second round of fixtures and Oldham were depleted in numbers due to a national selection weekend.

Oldham notoriously had a slow start to the game and in the first five minutes the home side went on a four goal run without an answer from Oldham. However, the travelling side answered well to this with some great through court pressure. This forced Leeds into mistakes and Krista Enziano and Kathryn Turner were finding the net well with their opportunities. At the end of the first quarter Oldham had edged into a lead 11-8.

Oldham 83 Bramhall 36

4/12/2013

Oldham made an immediate impact with an interception from Rachel Taylor off Bramhall’s first centre pass. Oldham made use of this and scored in the first seconds of the game. The Oldham Attack then continued to pound Bramhall’s defence scoring  19 goals in the first quarter and Bramhall could only answer with nine goals.

Changes going into the second quarter brought Rebecca Hope on a centre and Victoria Austin at wing attack. Oldham continued their form feeding the ball with precise passes to GS Amy Clinton who slotted the ball with ease into the net. The dynamic defence of Jess Dale, Abby Tyrrell and Rachael Taylor made it difficult for Bramhall to get the ball through the court and at half time Oldham led by 38 goals to 18.

Quarter three Oldham introduced Charlotte Spence at wing defence and the young Oldham side pushed even further ahead going into the last quarter and finished with an incredible 83 goals to 36

Oldham 79 Blades 36

1/12/2013

Oldham Netball Club's Premier League side were back to winning ways on Sunday with a convincing 79-36 win over Southampton based side Blades.

Oldham are renowned for having a slow start to games and today was to be no different. The home side took over five minutes to take the lead and get a grip of the game. However, once this happened there was no stopping the quick free flowing netball that Oldham are famous for playing. The defence started to take control of the Blades attack preventing the ball getting into any real shooting opportunities. Turnovers were punished as the ball quickly found shooters Kathryn Turner and Helen Housby. Oldham came out winners 19-12 after a high scoring first quarter.

Oldham were keen to push the lead even further in the second quarter and Oldham went on a flurry of nine unanswered goals. The Oldham attack seemed unstoppable and the ball was finding the in form shooters with ease. At the other end the defensive pressure from Kerry Almond, Dovey and Webster forced mistakes from the away side. At half time the lead had extended to 37-20.
