Game 3 : Oldham 43 Riverside 13
After a four hour break Oldham were back on court facing a Riverside team on their own turf. Oldham took time to get back into their stride making several unforced errors in the first few minutes. However, with some dogged determination from Rebecca Hope, Bryony Rhodes and Rhianna Egan they were clearly too much for Riverside and built an early lead of nine goals to one as the first quarter concluded.
The second quarter saw coach Pam Hazelton totally rotate her squad, Imogen Campbell getting her first taste of netball for the day at goal attack, Victoria Austin came on at wing defence, Ebbie Danson-Chappell replaced Issy McGlashen who moved back to goal keeper. An early time out was called after an accidental clash between Danson-Chappell and the umpire. The umpire was unable to continue and a reserve had to be called. The game continued in the same vein with both sides giving away possession too easily and not capitalising on each other’s mistakes. The quarter score was seven all, with Oldham still holding an eight goal lead 16-8.
The third quarter Megan Allingan on at wing attack, Danson-Chappell moved to centre and Amy Neild replaced Campbell at goal attack. Issy McGlashen took the game by the scruff of the neck and with two outstanding intercepts she drove the Oldham team forward, the team followed her lead and scored an impressive 15 goals in the quarter, going into the final quarter with a 19 goal lead 31-12.
In the final quarter Amy Clinton got her first rest of the day, with Rhianna Egan and Amy Neild forging a new shooting partnership. This gave Oldham a new dynamic with no aerial presence they worked the ball around the circle. They really took the game to Riverside, whose challenge fell away, only scoring one goal in the whole quarter. The final score of 43-13 was flattering for Oldham who didn’t put in their most convincing performance but they did what they had to and ground out a result.

Game 4 : Oldham 44 CD Phoenix 25
As Oldham progressed through the rounds and the opposition became tougher, they took on CD Phoenix from Sussex and it was clear from the start that Oldham were not going to have it all their own way. Jess Dale and Issy McGlashen worked the ball well through the court and into attack but Oldham couldn’t seem to get to grips with their tall shooter Amy Clinton being double marked. They slowly got to grips with it as they won the quarter 11-5.
Quarter two began much the same way, CD Phoenix scored a couple of goals in a row and got their tails up. Dale and Tyrrell swopped patches and despite the former turning the ball over several times Oldham couldn’t capitalise with several balls being thrown straight off the back line. The quarter finished 20-12 with some stern words to follow from coach Pam Hazelton.
With no changes going into the third quarter, Oldham stepped up their game with the ball flowing more easily as Amy Neild got into the game and worked around the edge of the circle drawing the Phoenix defence. Oldham built their lead to 13 with the quarter finishing 33-20.
Hazelton freshened her line up in the final quarter bringing on Ebbie Danson-Chappell to wing defence with McGlashen moving back to goal defence, Victoria Austin replaced Bryony Rhodes at wing attack. It seemed to do the trick with McGlashen and Danson-Chappell turning the ball over with regularity. Oldham seized the opportunity this time and moved on to win 44-25.
